The U.S. Department of State publishes estimated interview wait times by post. As of its October 2026 update, the published B1/B2 visitor wait for Kolkata was about 8.5 months — mid-range among the five Indian posts. Treat published waits as planning context, not a promise: actual appointment drops happen in bursts and cancellations reopen dates without notice, which is exactly why confirmed community alerts will matter here.
Always verify current figures on the official U.S. Department of State visa wait times page before making travel or resignation decisions.

Mid-range published waits. Family-visit demand is a large share of this post's queue.
Each post releases its own calendar against its own staffing and local demand, so openings are never synchronised across India. Kolkata's smaller catchment means a release can stay bookable a little longer — one more reason per-post alerts beat one national feed.
Anyone asking for your portal login to "book for you" is putting your appointment and fee at risk — bot-booked appointments have been cancelled in bulk by the U.S. Embassy. SlotDost will never ask for credentials and never books; you always book yourself on the official portal.
